WEST Devon author Lilian Harry is once again among the top 232 most-borrowed authors in British libraries.
For the 15th year running, Lilian, whose 'Burracombe' novels set in a fictional Devon village in the 1950s are fast becoming as popular as her wartime stories, has received the top payment of £6,600 for the number of times her books were borrowed over the past year.
The figure represents 5.98p paid for each book borrowed. There is an upper limit of £6,600 and if this were not imposed Lilian's true figure would be in excess of £20,000.
Lilian, of Tavistock, said: 'I am very happy to know that so many people are borrowing my books.
'Plenty buy them as well, and in fact I have a new paperback — A Penny A Day — being published this very week, which will soon be on bookshelves in both shops and libraries.'
Lilian Harry has written more than 60 novels and non-fiction books, under three names.
