A RARE opportunity to see the painting of Horrabridge artist Bob Mountjoy is brought about by an exhibition of recent work at the Tavistock Gallery in Duke Street.
Bob has recently exhibited successfully at the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Art.
Although initially better known for his abstract work the paintings have, in recent years, become more and more figurative with the most current work approaching realism.
Subject matter is taken from rural fringes and often features the weathered stone and timber of neglected buildings, domestic fowl and garden birds.
The technique used is labour intensive with paintings taking months, sometimes years to complete. Painstaking detail is added once the tonal and colour balance has been fully adjusted.
Bob, who teaches in Plymouth, says the output of finished paintings is relatively small with only a dozen or so finished works released for sale each year.
The exhibition at the Tavistock Gallery runs until November 17.
