A BUDDING young Tavistock artist had a real Christmas bonus this week when his drawing was selected by a superstore to be used on a special advertising leaflet throughout the country. William Rawlings, who attends St Rumon's School in Tavistock, was runner-up in a national competition, organised by Argos, for young people to design a front cover for the Christmas edition of its Bigger Better Deals leaftlet. Last summer, William, 5, asked his mother Melanie, if he could enter the competition along with his twin brother, Thomas. Entries had to be in by October and a delighted William won £50 from Argos for his colourful drawing of a Christmas tree, which will be reproduced in the leaflet and seen by hundreds of thousands of people nationwide. His mother, Melanie, who was equally delighted, said: ' We are chuffed to bits, I think its brilliant. 'William loves to draw and when he entered we never expected it to do so well.' The young artist is not just talented but obviously generous as well — his mother told the Times that William had kindly decided to share the prize with his brother.
