THE first copies of a new picture of Abbey Bridge and Tavistock Weir by popular local artist David Young have recently been delivered to the town's Mayflower Galleries. It is 25 years since David produced his first print from an original in oils of the weir. The picture was an immediate success and sold out quickly, giving him the encouragement to give up his job and become a full time artist. A quarter of a century later, he has revisited the subject with a fresh eye and produced a stunning new painting with the limited edition print being available in two sizes. And to celebrate his silver jubilee in publishing every customer buying any one of his pictures from the gallery before December 31 will be entered into a prize draw for a free print of the winner's choice, to a value of £125. Call in to the gallery in West Street for further information.
