THERE have been two incidents of suspected arson in the past week, one in Gulworthy and one in Callington.

Tavistock fire crew was called to a fire at the rear of the Horn of Plenty at lunchtime on Tuesday.

Tavistock sub-officer Tim Smith said the chef had done a good job in preventing further damage by putting out the fire with an extinguisher before they arrived.

It was discovered an accelerant ? probably petrol ? had been used and evidence was taken away.

Callington fire crew was called to a fire at a house in Liskeard Road, Callington at 2am on Wednesday.

They discovered an accelerant had been used.

A 31-year-old woman was rescued.

There was only minor damage to the house, mainly from smoke.
