POLICE in Tavistock are appealing for witnesses after an arson attack at a business premises in the town.
The attack occurred overnight on Thursday February 5 at Tavistock Chainsaws on Westbridge Industrial Estate, when a Honda pick-up van was overturned and completely burned out.
PC Simon Raeburn said: ?Obviously this is going further than the normal incidents of criminal damage we get. To my recollection it?s the first time a vehicle has actually been turned over and set alight in that area ? we are treating it as a serious incident.?
PC Raeburn said police would like to hear from anyone who has any information on the incident to come forward.
Doug Bennett of Tavistock Chainsaws said incidents of vandalism had occurred in the area in the past, but not on the scale of this attack: ?It?s not the sort of thing you get here ? it?s disappointing that something like this should happen in Tavistock.?
He appealed to anyone who saw anything or who had information about the incident to contact the police.
