Cullompton Rangers 3

Okehampton Argyle 0

THIS was a disappointing performance from Argyle, who never managed to overcome the blustery conditions and a bumpy pitch.

This was shown as early as the second minute when Daniel Johnson failed to control a bouncing ball, was robbed by the left winger, who then wasted a good chance by shooting over the bar from a good position.

Robbie Sandercock created the best chance Argyle had for the whole of the first half, but after breaking through the defence he shot weakly, straight into the arms of the keeper.

Argyle were soon punished for this miss. From Cullompton's next attack they broke down the right and defenders appealing for offside could only watch as the ball was crossed for James Smith to score with an easy tap in.

On the half-hour, Cullompton scored again from a similar move. This time it was Murphy who was on hand at the far post to get the final touch.

At the start of the second half, with the wind at their backs, Argyle probably had their best spell of the match. Shots from Steve Williams and Loyd Chapman both went narrowly wide, but then the side seemed to run out of ideas and Cullompton took control again.

It was no surprise that after missing a couple of good chances Cullompton increased their lead five minutes from the final whistle, with another simple tap in from Murphy. Argyle are without a game this week, so will rely heavily on other results keeping them out of the relegation zone.
