EIGHT boys representing Okehampton Argyle U11s — Liam Alford, Nathan Andrew, Ryan Gross, Rhys Palmer, Ben Bickle, Tallan Burns, Ross Voaden, Ben Barkwill — entered the Crediton six-a-side football tournament this weekend. Eleven teams took part in the U11s age group and were split into two leagues. Argyle played a super standard of football securing first place in their league, playing four games, winning three and drawing one before going onto to play Whipton in the quarter final and a 3-0 win. Their next encounter in the semi-final was Pinhoe. Argyle showed great consistency and teamwork and again won three nil. Nerves finally kicked in upon reaching the final against the home team Crediton. This was a closely fought game with chances at both ends. Argyle conceded a goal but battled on and were rewarded from two quickfire goals from Ben Bickle, putting them 2-1 up at half time but Crediton equalised straight after the interval. There were chances at both ends and great saves from Argyle's Nathan Andrews kept the score at 2-2 until Ross Voaden broke away and blasted the ball into the back of the net shortly before the final whistle. l Pictured above are the Okehampton Argyle U11 team who enjoyed an evening out to Bicton College in East Devon. Each boy was presented with a trophy and the team a cup having won this season's U11s East Devon Youth Football League.
