THE first ever South West Crown Archery competition, held as a joint venture between Toad Hollow Archery club and Muscovy Archery club, was held near Milton Abbot on Sunday.

More than 80 archers from all over the South West enjoyed glorious sunshine to compete for the crown, which is a new trophy based on an overall handicap system to give all styles of shooting an equal chance to win.

There was also a team event with six archers in each team, again competing on a handicap basis.

Specially designed medals and trophies were awarded for the top Archers in each group. The South West Crown Trophy was designed by Nick Hawken from Muscovy Archers.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day's shooting and agreed it would be a great annual event.

The overall winner of the South West Crown was John Crannan shooting a primitive bow. The team event winners were the A Team.
