A FAMILY is appealing for any information on their beloved Jack Russell, which was lost before Christmas and they believe may have been taken in by a passer-by.

Ten-year-old terrier Schmoo was out walking with owner Jenny Read near the cycle path between Clearbrook and Goodameavy on December 17, when she chased a rabbit and disappeared.

Since her disappearance, there have been sightings of Schmoo, including one near Hoo Meavy on December 21. Jenny and partner Andy Whitfield remain hopeful their precious pooch may have been taken in by someone.

Andy said: ‘She would be trying to get home to us. She is clever, independent, tenacious, loyal and would do anything to be back home with us. My guess is that someone has taken her in, thinking that a starving, dirty, desperate little dog has been abandoned or whatever over the Xmas break.

‘This is understandable and she is such a loveable thing that anyone would feel compelled to keep her. We will not stop feeling tormented or looking for her. We are heartbroken as is her little mate, Tor.

‘We have tried everything to find her. We have been overwhelmed by the selfish kindness and efforts put in by complete strangers who have tirelessly helped in our search.’

Andy is now offering a ‘large cash reward’ for Schmoo’s return.
