WHEN the Chestnut Appeal for prostate cancer was launched in 2001, the target of £1,000,000 must have seemed a very daunting task, but thanks to the caring and dedication of the members of the public, not forgetting that Radio Devon?s input was a tremendous help, that money plus much more was raised in about four years. That is an incredible achievement ? congratulations to everyone who made this possible. I feel sure that all those involved would be interested to know what is happening now. Over 22,000 men die each year from prostate cancer, and I know personally of three men who are awaiting treatment, so wouldn?t it be fantastic if they and others could learn when their waiting time will be over? To have raised such a huge amount is absolutely wonderful, but the equipment to start saving lives will be even more gratifying and rewarding for everyone concerned. Name and address supplied
