POLICE are appealing for information, following the theft of a large quantity of jewellery and medals from a property in Gunnislake recently.
The break-in took place in Bealswood Road between June 29 and July 3, when items including rings, bracelets, earrings, watches and medals were stolen.
Individual pieces included a general service army medal from Northern Ireland, 1984, in a square white box with gold crown printed on it. This had a green and mauve ribbon with a pin and bar — a miniature replica medal was also taken.
The thieves also took a bronze rugby medal, also dated 1984 and a windsurfing medal, dated 1983.
Pieces of jewellery taken included a sapphire and diamond engagement ring, pearl earrings, Oman gold earrings in a distinctive bent H-shape, a silver charm bracelet with up to 16 charms, a string of pearls, and a half-hunter pocket watch with gold chain, dating from the late 1800s or early 1900s. Each link of the watch chain was hallmarked.
Cash was also stolen from the property.
Police say it is not possible to put a value on the theft, as many of the items were of sentimental value.
Anyone with information or may have been offered any of the jewellery is asked to contact the police on 08452 777 444, quoting reference BN/11/396.
