A DOG owner was left shocked and shaken after her pet was attacked while out walking last week.
Bernadette Harding was on her usual walk on Tuesday last week when another dog turned on her two-year-old Jack Russell and Border Terrier cross, Mungo.
The attack happened at the bottom of Crediton Road at around 3.30pm.
Mrs Harding said she still cannot believe what happened: 'I was just out walking and I saw this dog crossing the road towards me on a lead.
'I did pull Mungo out of the way, but before I knew it the dog had jumped on him — it was literally on top of him.
'Then he just started shaking him like a rag doll — I was screaming, it was awful.
'The lady with the other dog had to kick it off Mungo.
'She said she was walking the dog for somebody else and had no idea it would attack.'
Mrs Harding said she would like the owner of the dog to get in contact: 'I was in such a rush to get Mungo to the vets, I didn't think to get details.
'I would like the owner of the dog, or the lady who was walking it, to get in touch.'
Mrs Harding said the attack had left Mungo badly shaken: 'This was a very distressing attack which resulted in our dog being rushed to the vets and requiring approximately 12 stitches and suffering from severe shock.
'I am concerned that this may happen to someone else's dog if they have an encounter with this dog or even worse, if it were to attack a child.
'I am sure that the lady walking this dog would have told the owner what had happened and I would like the owner to get in touch.'
Mungo, who is due to have his stitches out tomorrow (Friday) is making a good recovery.
