MY heart sank when I heard about the mindless vandalism inflicted on one of our neighbour's cars last weekend.

I am appalled and upset that this can happen. We all feel this at TRFC.

We at TRFC run  a tight ship – we have some 500 participating players of all ages each weekend, from all walks of life and the club has gone from success to success since 1971 when it was formed.

The club is run and staffed by volunteers – all our running costs are donations and membership costs and what money we can make from events, as and when we have them.

The 'Solstice' music festival has been a great success – we have had two concerts per year and worked very closely with the West Devon Borough Council, the police and licensing authorities to ensure we have everything that we can in place.

There are many legal restrictions on us and we meet them all diligently. We cannot patrol the streets – it is not allowed – as in town itself, it is the same issue – people need to behave.

My concern in reading your front page article was the lack of focus on the actual crime.

The vandalism of a person's car for no reason

and for no gain. This should be the focus.

We live in a small town — I have been sitting in my garden listening to the 'circus' which has been booming in the Meadows all week and soon Goose Fair will take over the town and force me to park in another county – that is what it feels like – and there will be vomit and vandalism and increased crime.

The police will do their best and we residents will band together and support each other and the local police in dealing with it.

I don't want the events banned, I want the idiots and vandals arrested and charged.

I understand the anger of Mrs Blamey – I would feel the same, I know I would, but we need to work together to ensure that a mindless idiot does not ruin the good humoured fun and enjoyment of the great many.

We live in a society which all too quickly it seems, finds it hard to focus on the wrong doer. I appeal to the people – for I know they are out there — who know who vandalised our neighbour's car to let me know who it was — anonymously if you prefer.
