OVERCOMING adversity was the topic at the spring Taste and See dinner, which took place at the Terrace Restaurant in Tavistock recently.

Janet May spoke openly and frankly about the personal journey she has come through, which has included living in abusive relationships and managing eating disorders.

She was brought up in South Africa and among many things managed an animal rescue centre, specialising in horses.

Janet learned a great deal about communication and conflict resolution while living and working in apartheid South Africa. Addressing the issues of poverty and injustice became, and has remained, important to her, personally and professionally.

Janet emphasised how she felt her Christian faith had sustained her throughout her life.

Ruth Newman, chairman of Taste and See, thanked Janet for an inspirational talk and the Terrace Restaurant for an excellent meal.

The summer Taste and See will take place in June. For further information call Ruth Newman on 01822 616859.
