I WRITE in reply to the article in the Times re the old Focus Do It All site.

I do not think Tavistock needs a further supermarket. There is a finite call for such things and it would just mean that the buying power is spread more thinly.

Tavistock does need a DIY store, though. Whilst there are several builders' merchants, they are closed from Saturday afternoon until Monday morning and also closed on Bank Holidays. That is when most people find they want things for repairs DIY etc. This is a market that Focus fulfilled.

Homebase, B&Q etc would, I think, do well here, especially as their staff are so helpful.

REFERENCE the article on Focus/supermarket (Times, May 3), if the chamber of commerce thinks that Tavistock does not need another supermarket then it is living in cloud-cuckoo land and have never experienced the Morrisons queues!

Many of my friends now shop in Roborough or Okehampton and I wish I was in a position to do so too.
