YOUTH to Youth in Bere Alston has benefitted from £1,090, thanks to an anonymous donor who matched the £545 raised at a fundraising evening at the Olde Plough Inn in Bere Ferrers.

More than 40 people tucked into sausage and mash while being serenaded by musicians from the Bere peninsula. After the meal, Marcel Kelly led silly games, including obscure song titles to play on kazoos.

The sale of tickets, profits from the sale of bottles of wine, the raffle and donations raised £545, which was doubled by the anonymous donor. Organisers thanked Sarah and Ted Williams for hosting the event, Mike Grimshaw for arranging musical entertainment and Marcel and Tilly Kelly for the games. Jen Potts, youth leader, was also thanked for her talk about the work of the Youth to Youth drop-in centre in Bere Alston.
