BACK in November 2013 Laurence the cat was adopted by Anne Walton-Walters from Margaret Green Animal Rescue's Wingletang centre near Brentor.
Laurence, who had been a stray for some time, was about 14 years old when he was adopted. He had a lot of health issues but after a couple of weeks of warmth and good food he improved significantly.
The family's other cats loved him and by mid February they thought they had managed to improve his health. Sadly he became ill again in the middle of March.
After many tests his bloods showed he had lymphoma and there was no hope of recovery.
The family said they were truly privileged to have been able to give such a gentleman a loving home for his last four months.
In October 2014 the family adopted Tyson from Wingletang — their 15th rescue cat. Tyson was originally taken in to the rescue centre as a boarder, but unfortunately his owner died in hospital and remained at the centre for more than a year and suffered a great deal from stress.
The family said that Tyson is doing well and has settled in very well.
l Margaret Green Animal Rescue charity is this year celebrating its 50th anniversary and to help mark the occasion the Times would like to hear from anyone who may have rehomed a dog, cat, rabbit or small rodent from the centre with their story of how they helped give an animal a forever home.
