PILOTS at Dartmoor Gliding Society had their spirits lifted by a surprise visit from a resident of a care home in Plymouth recently.

Andrew Stewart, from Trelawny House Care Home, was accompanied by a member of staff for the visit to the society in Brentor, so he could present the club with an oil painting he had created, depicting his first flight in a glider earlier this summer.

Andrew presented the painting to gliding instructor Steve Lewis, who accompanied Andrew on his first flight.

The painting is now on permanent display in the clubhouse.
