YOUR letter from Mr Osborne reference Tavistock Pannier Market paints a very different picture to the one I am familiar with. Tavistock Council officers and councillors, in association with market trader representatives meet regularly to discuss issues of mutual concern. I strongly believe that the success of the traders? operations is essential to the success of the market as a whole. We have striven over years to make steady improvements and I wish that Mr Osborne or for that matter other traders, make their concerns known to us through the Market Reeve or if they feel it more appropriate through the joint committee. It is somewhat unfair to let loose a salvo through your paper without even discussing through or attending our joint meetings. I sincerely hope that if other traders feel so aggrieved, they bring the matters to our attention so that, if possible, their concerns can be addressed. In the last four years the pannier market has grown and gone from strength to strength and this is a testament to the willingness of the market traders, the council officers and the town councillors to work towards mutual success.
