IN your issue of September 7 you have highlighted the difficulties experienced by people wishing to travel from Okehampton to Exeter in the morning peak period. It cannot be denied that Okehampton suffered a blow when on July 30 First Bus withdrew their service X10. However, Stagecoach presumably foresaw this happening, and on March 19 they extended their Exeter-Crediton service to Okehampton, as service 51. The X9 service runs mostly at two hourly intervals and there is no departure between 0740 and 1000. Of course, it is likely that the 10am bus, a single decker with sometimes no standing allowed, coming from Bude, can sometimes be unable to carry everyone. I would suggest that passengers consider using the departure at 0900 or 0930 on service 51 from Market Street near Somerfield. There are some single decker but service 51 operates largely with double deckers. There is also a departure on service X30 from Fore Street at 0955. Geoffrey Gill East Cleave Sourton
