Devon Senior Cup third round CSSL 1 Bere Alston Utd 4 BERE went behind in the first minute when a mis-hit shot ballooned into the air and the gale force wind took it in. Civil Service?s keeper used every opportunity to launch the ball into Bere?s goal area with the wind. Bere weathered this 15 minutes storm and played the ball around to effect with Steve Daymond striking a 20-yarder after good interplay. Playing with the wind Steve Piper smashed home. A Mark Wheeler free kick was parried out and Ian Crabb reacted first to head home. Craig Howells made three amazing saves in seconds when, from a break away, he parried a shot. The loose ball was smashed back. From the ground he got his hand to it and the follow up. He turned for a corner. Civil?s heads dropped and Bere poured forward. Will Westlake turned in a loose ball for four. Second round of Cornwall Junior Cup, so no fixture, but there could still be a match by rearranging games. Jefferey?s Cup Bere Alston Utd 4 Tywardreath 0 A VASTLY improved performance saw Bere into the second round. Bere dominated throughout, and, after Will Westlake was fouled in the box, Mark Wheeler scored from the spot. Ace predator Steve Daymond picked up a sloppy back pass in the box to smash home the second. The second half was all one way as the Tywardreath goal bore a charmed life until Will Westlake tore half the length of the pitch to smash a shot in off the post.
