Despite lockdown and all the covid restrictions, over £11,000 was raised by Tavistock Golf Club members for charity.

It is a tradition that during their year of office club captains raise money for their chosen charities. TASS and the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Tavistock were the beneficiaries of captains Andy Avens and Wendy George’s year

Club captain Andy Avens opened proceedings and thanked everyone for coming. He then invited centre co-ordinator Jackie Norris of TASS (Tavistock Area Support Services) to accept the cheque on its behalf.

She told members of all the work undertaken by TASS within the community. The cheque would be a great boost for the charity and was greatly appreciated by everyone at TASS.

Alistair Reid and Paul Johnson of the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Tavistock, on receiving their cheque from Lady Captain Wendy George, thanked her and members for making the group one of their chosen charities.

The money raised had helped them reach their Rescue 50 total. Paul said that their new control vehicle was on order and that they were fundraising for a supporting garage. They now had several specialist teams and during 2021 undertook 36 call outs.
