WORK will start on Monday on the construction of a footway link in North Tawton which will improve safety in the town.
The path will go through the War Memorial Park, North Tawton, between the main park entrance on Barton Street and Moorview.
This work will help provide a safer walking route between the village centre and the residential properties in the Moorview and Barton Hill areas. It will also link to the northern end of North Tawton Footpath.
North Tawton Town Council had raised concerns about the safety of the route due to the lack of a footway as the number of pedestrians walking to the town centre from this area has risen significantly following the building of new homes in Barton Hill.
Local county councillor James McInnes said: 'I'm pleased this path is going ahead, it will improve safe access from the south of the town to the centre.'
