SPOONERS' Annual Country Show will be returning to Bickham Park for its eighth year at the end of April. The family day out includes children's entertainment, face painting and various trade stalls at Deer Park at the Bickham Estate in Roborough. The 2014 show, on Sunday, April 27, promises to deliver a fun-packed day with the lurcher and terrier shows and racing which proved to be a fun event last year. The family dog show, starting at 12.30pm, attracts competitors of all ages to put the pooches through their paces, and new for this year is a mini inter hunt relay event. Side saddle classes, including one in fancy dress, will be held along with a £100 supreme championship prize donated by Tavistock Accident Repair Centre; a Sunday lunch voucher for four at the Moorland Garden Hotel, which will be awarded to the local champion; £30 of prize money for the open showjumping class, £20 for the intermediate open showjumping class, donated by Equafleece, and £20 for the open working hunter winner, donated by the Blacksmith's Arms. A parade of Spooners and West Dartmoor hounds will take place at 12.30pm, where children are welcome to enter the ring to pet the hounds.
