South Zeal 2

Crescent 2

WITH three first team forwards missing Zeal made a bright start to Saturday's game — it was no surprise when Alan Vile broke down the left and hit in a good cross that Henry Bellairs finished into the roof of the net.

Zeal could have gone two up soon after but the visiting keeper made a fine save. That was about the last of Zeal's attacking efforts of the first half as the visitors took control but could not create a clear cut opportunity.

Zeal could not get passing going and attacks kept breaking down before a chance could be created. The visitors' front two were giving the Zeal defence problems but they coped well with the pressure and Cleave Collins in the Zeal goal was rarely troubled.

However, within the space of 15 minutes Zeal found themselves 2-1 down. Both goals were chips from outside the area and caused by poor clearances to the feet of Crescent forwards. Zeal's problems were compounded when Vile seemed to pull a hamstring and had to go off. John Halliday came on in defence and Saunderson pushed forward in an effort to get an equaliser.

Zeal pressured Crescent but could not get the ball in the net until, with less than a minute to go, Wooldridge hit a good free kick into the penalty area and Roger White was on hand to equalise with a well taken goal.

Zeal have no game this Saturday but two the week after: home on Saturday, Nov 3, kick-off 2pm, away on Sunday to Folly Gate, kick-off 2pm.
