Tavistock Ladies 4

SUNDAY saw Tavistock Ladies football team away to Exeter University. From the whistle Tavistock settled quickly and dominated the match.

A superb cross from Donna Burch found the feet of Louise Evans who promptly opened the scoresheet, leaving Exeter's keeper wondering what happened.

After good teamwork in midfield from Kirsty Jones and Jane Sivyer the ball was passed to Lisa Curtis who took it up and calmly slotted in Tavistock's second goal.

Tavistock continued to build ground and midfielders Jane Sivyer and Julie McGowan sent ball after ball up front.

Tavistock's constant attacks paid off in the 35th minute when a cross from Burch found the feet of Evans again, who could only rebound the ball off Exeter's defence. With a sharp eye and quick thinking McGowan caught the ball and volleyed it into the back of the net.

Warm weather and tired legs caught Tavistock napping and Exeter pulled a goal back before half-time.

The second half saw Aileen Ismail coming on for Helen Lea who had her debut in defence. Tavistock lost some concentration and Exeter took up on this and slotted in a second goal.

After 15 minutes of free flowing football Exeter went on a charge and scored an extra two goals.

Tavistock were not prepared to lose and dug deep, with Candy Capeling and Helen Miller battling in defence keeping Exeter out of shooting on target.

Tavistock picked up form and good passing from midfield kept the attacks on Exeter's goal. Hard work paid off with Evans knocking in the fourth goal.

Okehampton Argyle Ladies 4

NOT having played a match for 10 weeks Okehampton turned out in good spirits for their second to last remaining fixture for this season.

After a close game with penalties at both ends Okehampton came away with all the points.

Jess Burdus scored one and there was a hat-trick from Sarah Rew.

Okehampton face Rolle again on Sunday at home, kick off 3pm. Players to meet 2pm at the clubhouse.

If anyone knows of the whereabouts of the team's kitbag and shorts please bring them along!
