A WIDE variety of wet fun is guaranteed in Bere Ferrers next month when the village hosts its annual watersports day. The event, on Saturday August 6, starts at 3pm with a series of games in and around the River Tavy, the first of which takes place in the mud, with the final games in the river, finishing with the greasy pole challenge at around 7pm. Spokesman Bev Slaughter said: ?Teams get covered in mud during the afternoon ? but wash it all off in the river at high tide ? this year at about 6.30pm.? Bev said more than 300 people packed the quay to watch the games last year ? organisers are hoping this year?s event will be just as successful. In addition to the games there will be a barbecue and pig roast, bar, bouncy castle, crab fishing, a static vintage motorcycle display, various stalls, refreshments courtesy of the WI and two prize draws. There will also be a disco and a band, Good Vibrations, will entertain on the quay. A firework display will be held at about 10.30pm, before Good Vibrations round off the day?s events.
