LATE night shoppers will find there is so much to do in Okehampton tonight (Thursday) at the ever-popular annual Edwardian Evening. As well as a host of the town?s choice shops staying open from 6pm until 9pm for you to get all your Christmas presents, you will also be able to enjoy the mayor?s carol service with Okehampton Silver Band in Red Lion Yard at 7pm, plus performances from the Cogs and Wheels Morris Dancers and the Barber Shop Singers. There will also be cup and saucer rides, a Victorian roundabout, hot chestnuts, a hog roast and music from the barrel organ all adding to the pre-Christmas atmosphere. Many of the shops will also be offering a ?little festive cheer? for customers. West Devon Borough Council is offering free parking in its Market Street and Mill Road car parks from 4pm. Richard Appleby, chair of Okehampton Chamber of Trade, said: ?There may be many people who are new to Okehampton or have moved into the area in the last few years. They may not have found their way around the town yet. ?I would like to invite those people in particular along to see how friendly the town is, so that they might feel they belong in Okehampton.?
