SPOONERS and West Dartmoor point-to-point is to be held this Sunday April 4 at Cherrybrook near Tavistock ? first race 12.30pm.
The course is in good order and excellent entries have been received so there should be some good racing. There will be the usual bookmakers, beer tent, refreshments, ice-creams etc and a bouncy castle for the youngsters.
The first race is well supported, with three stables entering three horses each. Thirty-two entries have been received for the restricted race which may have to be split. Trainers Linda Blackford, David Pipe and Rosemary Vickery are represented.
The mixed open should prove a good contest with many well known names entered. Among the 23 entries for the confined race are several already engaged in the previous three races.
The intermediate novice riders? race is again well supported and gives great encouragement to the less experienced riders.
A new innovation this year is the split of the maiden race into two races, one for horses eight years old and over and the other for five, six and seven-year-olds.
The course can be found just off the A386 between Tavistock and Mary Tavy.
Entry costs £15 per car, including all occupants.
