A COUNTRY fair with a difference is all set to take place this Saturday. The fourth annual Country Fair and Clay Pigeon Shoot, in aid of Exeter Leukaemia Fund, will be held at the home of Susie and Rupert Lascelles, near Hatherleigh, on Saturday, June 28. Susie has suffered from leukaemia more than once since 2000, but is still smiling, fighting and raising money for ELF — she has personally boosted the fund by more than £30,000. Even though she is recovering from a recent bone marrow transplant in her latest battle with the disease, Susie plans to be out in force for the fair. She said: 'We're going to have a great time and it will be a fantastic day. 'We even had a great time last year in a foot of water, but, thankfully, the field is already much drier than it was. 'Obviously, we're hoping for good weather, but we'll have a fabulous time whatever the weather.' The fair will open at 10.30am and will be well signposted from roads around Hatherleigh. New to the fair this year will be the incredible K9 Freestyle Dog Display. The team will be showing off some fabulous footwork with the Crufts' freestyle dance champion and some energetic canine freestyle frisbee. Their first show will be at 12.45pm and second at 2.15pm. There is also the annual ELF dog show, starting at 11.30am with 'best working dog', going through to the last class at 3.30pm — the 'best in show'. The clay shoot will be run by Bristol Mobile Clay Pigeon Shooting, who have been involved since the Lascelles' first fair in 2005. There is a Pool Shoot and 'Have a Go' with a qualified instructor. And featuring raucous support, is the annual tug-of-Wwar competition. There is a bird display at 3.15pm, Arab horses at 12pm and 1.30pm, a casting competition, gun dog scurry, vintage tractors, shopping stalls, plant stands, a raffle with generous cash prizes, tombola, bucking bronco, children's inflatable assault course and enormous slide, food, ice cream and a beer tent. Admission for adults is £5 while children under 12 are free.
