NATWEST in Okehampton has done its bit for a good cause, raising £226 for Cancer Research UK.

The bank raised the money during the branch's re-launch following its refurbishment at the beginning of December.

Staff helped put together hampers which were then raffled off to two lucky winners.

Sophie O'Connor, Cancer Research UK's local fundraising manager, said: 'Donations like this are invaluable. We are the only charity that researches every type of cancer.

'Most people have a personal connection to cancer with one in three people affected by the disease during their lifetime.

'The survival odds have doubled in the last 40 years. Now we need to keep the fight going and donations like this help tremendously.'

Mrs O'Connor visited the branch to collect the money last week.
