A NEW stretch of cycle path that passes through Made-Well in Hatherleigh will help improve the town's links to the Tarka Trail cycle network.

On Saturday the new path section was opened by Hatherleigh mayor Andy Gilbert and the county councillor for Hatherleigh and Chagford, James McInnes.

Susan Howard of Made-Well said: 'The path looks absolutely beautiful and we believe our bit is one of the few tarmac-ed stretches of the path.

'We hope people use the path and it gets linked into the rest of the network soon.'

As funds become available, the council will work to tarmac further parts of the path and connect it into the Tarka Trail network of cycle paths.
