Pre-season friendly Crediton Utd 0 Callington Town 2 NEW look Callington eased past a physical Crediton at Lords Meadow on Saturday. One of the first moves of new chairman Bernard Harding, secretary Nick Smith and treasurer Steve Woolley after June?s annual meeting was to select a first team management team and they chose Mark Skerton and Chris Howells. The partnership have succeeded in starting to create the important blend of local young talent and more experienced players and this game at Crediton on Saturday was the first test of their results. On a pitch that was hard but slippery as drizzle fell during the game, Callington were soon in command and took the lead on 16 minutes. Richard McHue?s corner on the right was powerfully headed home by Paul Sowden. At the other end, Vinnie Bowman parried a shot off his left -hand post and away. Kevin Blatchford almost doubled Callington?s lead on the half hour when he created a good chance but shot weakly before Crediton were awarded a penalty on 40 minutes. Adam Reid was adjudged to have handled in the box but Danny Hall?s spot kick was hit wide of Bowman?s right hand post and Town came in ahead at the break. With 15 minutes to go, Callington added a second to secure the victory. Dave Henwood and Mark Crowley combined to release Kevin Blatchford who delightfully lifted the ball over the keeper and into the net.
