PLANNING is now underway for the Tavistock Food and Drink Festival 2006 ? the third event to be organised by Tavistock Business Association. The event will be held on July 29 and 30 in Bedford Car Park, off Plymouth Road. Organisers are to provide substantially larger park and ride facilities next year, with transport provided to and from the festival. Jeffrey Stackhouse, festival chairman, said: ?We are now getting down to planning our third annual festival, which will build on the success of our first two. ?We are looking to have more than 110 exhibitors in a substantially larger marquee complex, reinforcing our position as the largest food festival in the South West. We are also hoping to increase our visitors numbers next year, towards 10,000. ?Emphasis will be on making our festival even more visitor friendly, by increasing the size and scope of our jazz café, which will offer traditional jazz throughout the festival, and a wider range of food, reflecting the festival theme of quality products from the South West.? Following last year?s very successful ?cheese corner?, the festival organisers will be choosing a theme again for the 2006 event. This will be in addition to the celebrity chef demonstrations, organised by Peter Gorton from the Horn of Plenty. There will also be a farmers? market taking place throughout the festival.
