AIDEN Bostock from Okehampton has competed in two national level competition events since his bronze medal success at the British Judo Championships in October and is fully justifying his place on the England squad.

In the first, the Midland Area Judo Championships in Walsall, he moved up to U60kg for the first time and won bronze, losing only one contest against Sam Hobbis from team Sportif in Scotland.

In the Northwest Championships in Liverpool he fought superbly, only losing one contest by a low score to Colin MacDonald from Scotland and the gold medallist at this weight for both competitions and current British champion.

After his amazing performance Aidan has been asked to join a British Judo team trip to Belgium at Easter to compete in a European age banded competition.

Aidan, aged 13, started his Judo with John Buxton sensei at Okehampton Judo Club. Since then he's trained regularly at many Devon clubs as well as attending national courses and training sessions.

Since his England squad selection Aidan has attended training sessions at the English Institute of Sport in  Sheffield and at Dartford Judo Club — a £4.5 million pound  purpose built training facility — as well as three hour sessions twice a  week at Tamar Judo Centre Saltash with other squad members from all over the South West.

Having successfully completed his level one coaching award Aidan helps coach at Okehampton on Mondays and Tedburn St Mary most Fridays.
