West Devon Citizens Advice Bureau is warning Christmas shoppers to be aware or their shopping rights when using the internet. Mandy Kenyon, development officer for the charity said: ?The internet can be a very convenient way of getting Christmas shopping done, without having to face the weather, and the crowds, but if things go wrong, sometimes it can be more difficult to sort out.? In response to the increase in people who now shop using the internet, Citizens Advice have published a number of tips for online buying on their website http://www.adviceguide.org.uk">www.adviceguide.org.uk The tips include taking postage and package costs into account, and looking for websites that have a secure way of paying. The advice guide website also gives specific information about buying on internet auction sites. Examples of this include what to do if you cannot trace the seller, what to do if you suspect fraud is involved and your rights when the seller is a private individual. Various internet sites including Ebay have now agreed to start providing information about shopping rights.
