AFTER the good news on the front page of the Times (March 21), under the heading 'United in Soccer Bid', we feel it would be useful to update our many local supporters.
Following the conveyance by West Devon Borough Council to the Crowndale Recreational Association (CRA) of the 12-acre Crowndale site, the major financial contributor to, and stalwart friend of the CRA has been Tavistock Town Council, together with a vast number of local people, both young and old.
In addition to the nearly £40,000 mentioned in your article, we would like to confirm that an additional £35,000 of contributions from the Football Association, Bill Butlin Trust and Tavistock Lions will be utilised from next month in the works for mini soccer on this site.
The CRA will be holding a number of fundraising events during the year which will include a 'CRA Night' with Gilbert and Paolo's Circus in August at Crowndale.
