THERE'S no stopping Tavistock's Adam Holland in his bid to be the youngest man to complete 100 marathons and gain a place in the Guinness Book of Records. The indefatigable Adam, who lives in Coxtor Road, Greenlands, has now completed 12 marathons in the last 15 weeks and overall has now ran 18 races of 26 miles 365 yards — well on his target to overcome the present holder, fellow Britain Steve Edwards, aged 28, who holds the world record for the number of marathons run. Adam, 21, who is a member of Tavistock Athletic Club, has a best of 2hrs 51 minutes 56secs at the London Flora Marathon and recently came fourth at Brathay Windermere in Cumbria with 2.53.57 which earned him a place in next year's London marathon. Last weekend he finished the Needles race on the Isle of Wight. A keen sportsman, Adam also plays hockey for Tavistock Hockey Club and darts with the Red and Black Club. 'I love running marathons,' he said, 'some of them are so scenic and you get to meet many people, especially those from abroad. It takes me about two days to recover and I feel it in my legs sometimes but right after the Windermere race I was climbing a vertical wall — so you soon recover.' His next big run is the Perth marathon in Australia, part of his bid to run in each of the world's continents. Adam added: I would love to say a big, big thank you to the Ward family, the Peasgood family, Peter Bazley and to Nigel Eadie, for their help with the sponsership, travel and accommodation.
