A BUDDING cookery student from Okehampton has been presented with an award by Peter Gorton, top chef at the Horn of Plenty at Gulworthy.
Adam Hatten was presented with the Catering Industry Cup for Food Preparation student of the year, at an awards ceremony at St David?s Restaurant at Exeter College.
He is studying at the college for an NVQ advanced modern apprenticeship in food preparation and cooking.
Adam, a formear Okehampton College pupil, is studying on a day release course and cooks at the Puffing Billy Inn in Exeter.
He said he was pleased to have the award under his belt and that eventually he would like to have his own restaurant.
The students were given a night off from the kitchens at St David?s Restaurant, as a splendid dinner was laid on for the winners and their guests at the awards ceremony.
