TWO West Devon leisure centres have joined forces with Okehampton Community Recreation Association to help communities get fit and active. Meadowlands Tavistock and Parklands Okehampton have donated £10,000 to OCRA to support a variety of local community initiatives. The money has been donated by Leisure in the Community, a not-for- profit organisation that holds the leisure centre management contract across West Devon. It aims to support an outreach programme, a fitness festival, and health, life skills and activity interventions, in eleven of the most isolated communities across West Devon. Jon Smith, contract manager of the centres, said: 'We are all very proud to be supporting OCRA. Our shared goals are to encourage community participation in fitness and physical activities and we hope to reach out to as many people as possible.'
