THE Acorns made it across the board wins for the club against Bideford at the weekend.
A first half up the slight slope saw Okehampton gain a lot of possession, which was used to good effect as the back ran in early tries. Bideford stayed in touch with two well deserved tries in the first half.
Early on in the second half, playing down the slope, the Acorns took advantage of a weakened Bideford side, supplemented by five Okehampton players.
Tries came thick and fast with forwards taking the ball on, setting it up for quick second phase possession which resulted in 11 tries being spread among seven players. The Ewen brothers shared five tries, Rob and Charles two each with Colin getting one in his second half appearance.
Others on the scoresheet were Hayden Leigh and Adam Holliday, two tries apiece, with Andy Dennis and Dougie Taylor scoring one each. Adam added conversions for the final score of 67 points.
Andy Dennis and Pete Hodge made a big difference with their powerful drives up the middle.
Bideford had the final score of the match and all credit should go to the Okehampton players who swapped shirts to enable the game to go ahead.
