A YOUNG Peter Tavy man who survived a motorcycle accident that left him with a severe brain injury will be joining representatives of the Leonard Cheshire Foundation and Tavistock Lions to cheer on and raise money for a disabled man who is walking from John O?Groats to Land?s End.

Mark Ralph, who was in a coma for a month, was put in touch with his local Leonard Cheshire group after being discharged from a rehabilitation unit in 1999.

The group gave him an opportunity to socialise with people who knew what he was going through, provided transport and helped arrange a computer course. He now works as a volunteer for the charity.

Mark will be joining the others outside Tavistock Somerfield supermarket on Monday, June 28 at 2pm to collect money for Chris Moon, who will be walking through the town during the day.

Chris lost a leg and an arm while clearing mines in Mozambique eight years ago and aims to raise

£1-million for the Leonard Cheshire charity by completing the walk in 25 days.

Somerfield will also be collecting for the charity on that day.
