Padstow 1

Gunnislake 3

GUNNISLAKE played their final away fixture of the current campaign and were expecting to travel with a 16-man strong squad. However, with six players failing to turn up Gunnislake played the entire first half a man short.

The absentees enabled Matt Cann to come in to the starting line-up and Tom Campbell to start a match for the first time in more than three years.

Gunnislake made the perfect start. Defender James Ord played in Paul Tomkies who, from a tight angle, finished well with fewer than 60 seconds having been played.

By half-time, having done the greater share of the attacking, Padstow had equalised thanks to a dubious penalty.

Gunnislake were up to 11 players by the start of the second half. Lee Beer, having received the call just 50 minutes before kick-off, travelled down to make his Gunnislake debut.

Playing good football Gunnislake were much the better of the two teams in the second half and with Beer twice and Stuart Wakenshaw three times having shots at goal a second goal looked inevitable.

A second goal did come midway through the second half.

Having already had two efforts hit the woodwork Campbell deservedly got on the scoresheet having been played in by Wakenshaw.

Gunnislake sealed victory 10 minutes from time — Steve Gaggini got on the end of a Mark Warwick free kick to notch his eleventh goal of the season.

Gunnislake 3

St Newlyn East 0

AFTER a goalless opening hour to this match Lee Underwood with a brace and Steve Cribb with a well executed long range effort ensured Gunnislake continued their recent winning run.

The result ensured Gunnislake of at lest fourth place. But with Pensilva securing second spot behind Polperro, at best, with one game to go, Gunnislake can only finish third. And, to achieve this a high scoring victory is required.
