THE beautiful house and gardens of Buckland Abbey will soon be open to the public during the weekends, when visitors will be able to enjoy the wonderful estate walks and award-winning displays within the abbey itself. The abbey will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from this Saturday, February 12, between 2pm and 5.30pm, with the shop, restaurant, gardens and estate walks open from 12.30pm. Until March 19, admission to the garden and grounds will be free and entry to the house half price. There are four marked estate walks at Buckland, some through the Great North Wood and others through open pastureland, which include beautiful views of the Tavy valley. There will be half-term children?s activities at the Brass Rubbing Centre this weekend and next weekend. The main season at Buckland Abbey begins on March 19, when the estate will be open every day except Thursdays, between 10.30am and 5.30pm.
