THE National Trust's Buckland Abbey, near Yelverton, is preparing to go back in time this August Bank Holiday weekend as the Medieval Free Company return once again with their ever popular encampment.
The sights, sounds and smells of life in the late 15th Century will come to life outside the Great Barn with crafts, cookery and costumes from old England.
Visitors can talk to Hod the Fletcher while he makes arrows for the archery competition and learn the secrets of spinning wool and weaving braid with Nellie and her ladies. Watch Stumpy the blacksmith forging his knives and tools and spy on Movar the unlicensed Miller as he carries on his trade under constant threat of the stocks.
The event runs from August 23 to 25, between 11am and 4.30pm.
