TAVISTOCK College students have been hard at work preparing to perform their own humorous take on the history of Buckland Abbey at the National Trust property next month. ?The Right Fork? is part of the trust?s nationwide Untold Story Project which works with youth and community groups to find innovative ways of telling stories associated with National Trust sites. The 20 young actors have been working with theatre practitioner Danielle Krage to create a performance intended to reflect the Abbey?s 700-year history. Hannah Jones, education and support services manager at Buckland Abbey said: ?The Untold Story Project is giving us the support to work with the local youth service to create sustainable projects with local young people, helping them to engage with the heritage in their area.? The Right Fork has been put together by the students themselves and explores some of the many characters associated with the abbey who have often been overshadowed by its more famous resident ? Sir Francis Drake. The project is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and, although performances are free, places are limited and must be booked by calling 01822 853607. The Right Fork takes place on July 2 and 3 at 5.30pm. Some of the students involved are shown left. Picture by Apex
