MR QUINN?S further letter, quote A30/A303 dualling versus A358/M5 link (December 30) still misses the point. Far from ?claiming a superior expertise? about greenhouse gases, I merely pointed out that, on Mr Quinn?s own argument, his lobby?s ?support? for the A358/M5 diversion as an ?alternative? to the strategic A30/A303 dualling project appears perverse, because the expert evidence presented to SWRA showed that the A358/M5 scheme will generate 4,000 tonnes more carbon dioxide per annum than the dualled A303/30. I did not need superior expertise: all I had to do was read the report that Mr Quinn appears not to have read. Rather than taking ill-informed pot shots at me, perhaps he would like to tell us how the A358/M5 scheme that his lobby supported against the A303/A30 dualling can claim to be a ?second strategic route to the South West peninsula?, which was what the argument was actually about. He cannot, because it is not, so he probably will not. All the rest are side-issues. Cllr Roger W Mathew
