ROADWORKS on the A30 were scheduled to begin from the beginning of this week. A £500,000 scheme to resurface to A30 eastbound between Ebsworthy and Sourton Cross is due to take place between Monday January 28 and Wednesday February 13. A spokesman for the Highway Authority said: 'The new surface is required to replace worn out carriageway. 'It will improve safety by increasing skid resistance and reduce spray in wet weather. By using a low noise material, it will reduce noise pollution and provide a smoother journey for road users.' The work will affect around one mile of carriageway and will take place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, to minimise disruption. The work will take place between Mondays and Thursdays when the whole eastbound carriageway will be closed. There will be a diversion in operation that will see eastbound traffic leaving the A30 at Stowford Cross and continue along the former A30 to Sourton Cross, to rejoin the main road.
