AS the 2009/2010 academic year came to an end at Mount House School, and the sixth-formers prepare to move on to their senior schools, the head boy and head girl take the opportunity to pass on the benefits of their experiences over the past year to their successors, whose appointments start next term.

In what has been an exceptional year for the school academically, the head boy and girl were among the 12 pupils who won scholarships. Head girl Gemma Robbins from Lamerton has been awarded an All-rounder scholarship to Blundells School, and head boy Zach Spiers will be moving on to Kings College Taunton, with a sports scholarship.

While the tradition of the head Girls journal dates from 2005, Zach Spiers is the 21st head boy to complete a journal entry in a tradition that began in 1990, when Mount House was still a boys-only school.
